China's open-source AI models empowering industries worldwide

Chinese firms making open-source AI models are accelerating upgrades and building a strong following in overseas markets.

The large AI model company MiniMax just released a new multimodal model that can generate a full-length, cinema-style video with synchronized audio, using just a few reference images and text prompts.

Company officials say they've seen many overseas clients adopting their AI product.

In Shanghai, staff from a tech company were conferencing remotely with Malaysia's e-wallet provider, TNG Digital, discussing how a newly developed AI tool could streamline the company's internal data processing.

The size of China's AI industry exceeded 170 billion U.S. dollars last year, up 40 percent year on year.
