NEW! Sports & Leisure History Look-Back for the week of September 21, 2026. Topics include:

A. On September 25, 1932, Paul Waner of the #Pirates hit his 62nd double of the season, breaking the record of 59 set by Chuck Klein of the #Phillies. Waner is a bit lost to history, but is one of the best hitters in #MLB history. Clayton & Jeff talk about Paul Waner and his brother, Lloyd, both played for Pittsburgh, both in the Hall of Fame, and perhaps make up the greatest sibling duo in baseball history. #RAISEIT

B. Couple discussions on #MLB and speedsters: On September 22, 1990, at #WRigleyField, #AndrewDawson of the #Cubs got his 300th stolen base and joined the great #WilleMays who, at the time, was the only player in #MLB history with 300 steals and 300 home runs. And, on September 24, 1977, rookie Gene Richards of the #Padres stole two bases to break the rookie stolen base record. He would be matched by another rookie -- Omar Moreno of the #Pirates. Richards finished 1977 with 56 and Moreno with 53. #FlyTheW #RAISEIT

C. In modern #NFL, September 21, 2008 was one of the most significant days: the #Dolphins debuted the "Wildcat" offense in a win against the #Patriots. No one had a bigger day than Ronnie Brown who received the direct snap for three TDs, scored another "traditional" rushing TD, and even threw for a touchdown. It's now a regular part of the NFL, but at the time, the "Wildcat" was revolutionary for pro football. #PhinsUp

D. On September 27, 1981, #Steelers duo of quarterback #TerryBradshaw and wide receiver #LynnSwann connected on a TD pass. It was one of 49 total touchdowns the two would have -- a #Pittsburgh record until 2016 when it was broken by Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown.

E. In #collegefootball, on September 26, 1992, at the #TheBigHouse in #AnnArbor, #MichiganWolverines blew out #HoustonCougars 61-7 -- one of the biggest losses in #Houston history. #Michigan went undefeated that #NCAAfootball season, but three ties left them ranked #5 at the end. The #Wolverines ended up playing -- and beating -- the #WashingtonHuskies in the #RoseBowl. #TyroneWheatley would be #BigTen Offensive Player of the Year. #GoBlue #GoCoogs

F. A rare September #NBAplayoffs game. On September 23, 2020, in the "Bubble" in Orlando, #MiamiHEAT rookie #TylerHerro had 37 points to beat the #Celtics in Game 4. It was the most points in an #NBA playoff game since #MagicJohnson had 42 in 1980. The #Heat went on to the #NBAFinals, but #Miami would lose to #LeBron and the #Lakers. #HeatCulture #LakeShow
