News About The Real-Life Kraken That Ruled The Planet Long Before Dinosaurs

Meet Cameroceras, the terrifying prehistoric sea monster that prowled Earth’s oceans around 470 million years ago, long before dinosaurs, sharks as we know them, or life ever conquered the land. With its enormous cone-shaped shell, grasping tentacles, and sharp beak, this giant cephalopod looked like a real-life Kraken straight out of a nightmare. Scientists once estimated it could reach 33 feet long, but newer research suggests a smaller size of around 20 feet, still making it one of the most impressive predators of its ancient world. Back then, the oceans were filled with strange creatures, but few could match the sheer size and fearsome appearance of this living weapon. Discover how Cameroceras hunted, why its true size remains debated, and how a monster from deep time became one of the closest things Earth had to a real-life Kraken.
