Sleeping Supervolcano Under Europe Is Waking Up

When people think of volcanoes in Italy, they usually picture a tall mountain. But the biggest threat in the area doesn't look like a volcano at all. It's hidden under towns, roads, and neighborhoods, and hundreds of thousands of people live right on top of it. It's a supervolcano, and it's starting to stir. Scientists have collected tens of thousands of small earthquakes and found something hidden inside the noise. The ground is rising, and the pressure is building. Experts say stronger earthquakes are not just possible, they're likely. And this time, the danger isn't just the volcano itself. It's where the shaking starts.
