Robin Hood loses the archery contest and immediately pulls out the script to check whether thatโ€™s allowed. Accepting defeat apparently wasnโ€™t an option. ๐Ÿ˜ญ This scene from Robin Hood: Men in Tights (1993) gets even funnier when everyone else starts checking their copies too.

Cary Elwes plays Robinโ€™s disbelief so seriously that you almost forget how ridiculous his solution is. Heโ€™s standing in the middle of a medieval tournament looking for written confirmation that he gets another shot. Then the competition turns into a group reading session while Prince John and the Sheriff try to work out what happens next.

Thatโ€™s the part I love most. Nobody questions why they have the screenplay. They just need to find the right page.

Mel Brooks turning a familiar Robin Hood moment into an argument with the movieโ€™s own script is exactly why I keep coming back to this comedy. The reactions make every replay worth it.
