Jake Paul’s hype train came crashing down in brutal fashion as he suffered the second defeat of his career—and the first knockout loss—after former unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua demolished him at the Kaseya Center in Miami on Friday night.

Paul had originally been set to face lightweight champion Gervonta "Tank" Davis in a 195-pound exhibition on Nov. 14, but the event collapsed after Davis became the subject of a civil lawsuit in late October alleging battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Paul (12-2, 7 KOs) was dropped four times before being violently stopped. He entered the bout riding the momentum of a unanimous decision victory over former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in June and had reeled off six consecutive wins since his only previous defeat—a split-decision loss to Tommy Fury in February 2023.

Joshua (29-4, 26 KOs) reminded the boxing world of his devastating power. After surrendering the WBO, IBF, and WBA heavyweight titles to Oleksandr Usyk in September 2021 and falling short again in their rematch 11 months later, the British powerhouse bounced back with four commanding victories before suffering a stoppage defeat to Daniel Dubois in September 2024.
