Every Parents' Day, I keep a personal tradition of gifting my parents a song. I do this because nothing seems to hold more value to them than watching me sing. 🥰
This year, my choice was 'Fly Me to the Moon.‘

While I already gave them a raw, live performance on the day itself, looking them right in the eye, I wanted to preserve that exact atmosphere and emotion forever, so I decided to document it on video.

Instead of taking the easier route of layering my voice over an instrumental track, I challenged myself with an acappella jazz rendition, filling the entire space with nothing but my own voice. Since there are no instruments to hide behind, every little breath and subtle vocal shifts is completely exposed. Because of this, I wanted to align the lyrics captions flawlessly with the groove and timing of my vocals. Spending time editing the video frame by frame to get that perfect sound and picture sync is why this upload is a bit late.

매년 어버이날마다 부모님을 위한 나만의 연례행사로 노래 선물을 준비하곤 해요. 부모님께서 내가 노래하는 모습을 세상에서 가장 가치 있게 바라봐 주시기 때문이에요.

올해의 선택은 'Fly Me to the Moon'.
어버이날 당일에는 부모님 눈을 마주 보며 날것의 라이브로 먼저 들려드렸지만, 그 순간의 공기와 감정을 온전히 박제해 두고 싶어 영상으로 다시 기록해 봤어요.

MR에 목소리를 얹는 편안한 방식 대신, 오직 목소리 하나로만 공간을 채우는 '무반주 재즈 스타일링'에 도전했답니다. 악기가 없다 보니 작은 숨소리나 미세한 음정 변화가 그대로 들려서, 가사 자막을 넣을 때도 제 목소리의 그루브와 타이밍을 완벽하게 맞추고 싶었어요. 화면과 소리의 싱크를 초 단위로 쪼개 가며 디테일하게 편집하느라 업로드가 조금 지연된 이유이기도 해요.
