Russia and North Korea have officially opened their first direct road bridge across their shared border, marking a significant step in the rapidly deepening ties between Moscow and Pyongyang. Spanning 1 kilometer over the Tumen River, the two-lane bridge connects to a newly constructed border checkpoint designed to handle up to 300 vehicles daily. Building upon existing rail and air links, the automobile bridge expands transport options for cross-border movement across the shared frontier.
The completion of the project highlights flourishing relations between the two nations across economic, tourism, and strategic domains. With North Korea increasingly welcoming Russian tourists and enhancing trade logistics, Russian officials emphasized that the new engineering milestone will provide strong momentum for long-term regional integration. The cross-border infrastructure is expected to streamline transit, accelerate bilateral cooperation, and further facilitate trade across the border.
