When love lasts eternally: A Portuguese love story | Miguel Júdice | TEDxMarvila

There's a fountain on Miguel Júdice's family estate in Coimbra that thousands of people visit every year to celebrate eternal love — and he opens his talk by explaining why. It's the true story of his ancestors, Prince Pedro and Inês de Castro: a 14th-century romance forbidden by a king, ended by an assassination, and then, unbelievably, continued after death — Pedro exhumed her body, crowned her queen, and built their tombs foot to foot so they'd see each other first on judgment day. He tells it with real detail and real stakes, then turns it on the audience, asking what a swipe-left culture of situationships might learn from two people who chose each other completely, even past the point of reason. By the end, he leaves you with a challenge simple enough to actually act on: do one meaningful thing for someone you love, today. Come for the history — stay for where he takes it. Miguel Júdice is a hospitality entrepreneur with extensive experience in Portugal's luxury sector. His projects include the Hotel Quinta das Lágrimas, part of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, and Eleven Restaurant, awarded one Michelin star. He has led and advised numerous ventures across hospitality, real estate, and culture, and served as President of the Portuguese Hotel Association. Miguel holds a degree in Business from Universidade Católica Portuguesa and a Master's in Hospitality Management from Cornell University.
