Saudi's MBS visits Cairo and seeks Egypt's backing against Houthi strikes

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi meet in Cairo as Yemen's Houthi group tightens its grip on a key Red Sea shipping route after seizing the country's western coast and the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

The Houthis have made a rapid series of territorial gains along Yemen’s western coast, significantly changing the military situation after years of relatively static front lines.

The group captured the strategic Red Sea port city of Mocha and has since expanded toward the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, one of the world’s key maritime chokepoints.
