China's first cross-sea suburban railway draws crowds during free trial rides

Ningbo, a city in eastern China's Zhejiang Province about 150 kilometers south of Shanghai, opened Metro Line 12 on Monday—a 61.5-kilometer route linking downtown Ningbo with the coastal county of Xiangshan, bringing China's fastest urban rail technology to one of the country's newest seaside destinations.

Line 12 features a total of 10 stations, including 2 underground stops and 8 elevated stations, with a one-way trip taking just 35 minutes.
