GB 작가탐방 2026 #2 | 공유공간 뽕뽕브릿지

발산마을의 버려진 가구 보관 창고에서 시작된 독립 예술공간, 뽕뽕브릿지.

2015년 문을 연 이래 레지던시와 비평 프로그램으로 신진 작가를 발굴하고, 전시와 국제 교류, 워크숍을 이어오며 예술과 지역을 연결해 온 뽕뽕브릿지의 이야기를 담았습니다.

과거 방직 공장과 마을을 잇던 뽕뽕다리에서 이름을 가져온 이유, 그리고 "공간이 무너지지 않는 선에서 무엇이든 하셔도 된다"는 말로 작가들의 실험을 뒷받침해 온 시간을 최윤미 대표와 함께 나눕니다.

spaceppong is an independent art space that began in a converted, previously abandoned furniture-storage facility in Balsan Village.

Since opening in 2015, it has discovered emerging artists through its residency and critique programs while connecting art and the local community through exhibitions, international exchange programs, and workshops. This video shares the story of the space.

Director Choi Younmi speaks about the name, drawn from the Ppongppong Bridge that once linked the village to its textile factories, and about the words she offers every artist who arrives: "You can do anything you'd like, as long as the physical space remains standing."

GB Artist Focus is a research program by the Gwangju Biennale that invites audiences to explore the practices of artists based in the Jeonnam-Gwangju region.
