Double The Springs, Double The Danger!

Why do some heavy-duty car engines have two springs on every single valve?! 🚗💨
When rebuilding a high-performance or heavy-duty cylinder head, mechanics often upgrade from a single valve spring to a dual valve spring setup. By placing a smaller damper spring completely inside the main outer spring, the engine can handle incredibly aggressive camshaft profiles and much higher RPMs without experiencing "valve float"!
In this video, the mechanic uses a traditional C-clamp style spring compressor to safely squeeze both springs down at the same time. Once the retainer clears the top of the valve stem, he carefully installs the two tiny metal keepers (locks). When the tension is released, the extreme upward pressure of the dual springs permanently wedges the keepers into place!
