Mechanics LOSE FINGERS doing this!

Is it safe to machine a brake rotor directly on the car?! 🚗🔧
When brake pads wear down over time, they often leave a thick, rusty lip on the outer edge of the metal brake rotor. Normally, a mechanic will remove the heavy disc and mount it on an expensive, highly calibrated professional brake lathe to shave it perfectly smooth and flat.
However, this DIY mechanic created a highly dangerous "redneck lathe" right in the driveway! By leaving the car running in gear while lifted on a jack, the axle spins the rotor automatically. They then hold a sharp carbide cutting tool directly against the spinning steel to manually shave off the rust! While it looks oddly satisfying, one slip will cause the tool to catch, resulting in catastrophic hand injury or destroying the entire suspension!
