Chinese battery-maker CATL opens giant Hungary production plant

CATL has begun trial operations in the new cell building at its Debrecen plant, marking a key step forward for its largest European battery project.
The production base in Debrecen has a designed production capacity of 100 gigawatt-hours of batteries a year, enough to power 2 million electric cars, each with a driving range of 500km (311 miles).
Mass production would start after production equipment and manufacturing processes were optimised and validated, the company said.
