Xie Feng, Chinese Ambassador to the US, highlighted the importance of cultural exchanges in developing China-US ties at the Future Resonance ShanghaiEye Night event, co-hosted by Shanghai Media Group (SMG), in Washington DC on October 3.
Susan Lee, Secretary of State of Maryland, and Song Jiongming, President of Shanghai Media Group, also addressed the event. Other important guests include Sean Stein, president of US-China Business Council, Retired American teacher Ronald Sakolsky, and Dr. Kewal Dhariwal, Chair of Board of Directors, World Intangible Cultural Heritage Conservation Center.
Of the nearly one hundred distinguished guests from political, business, tech, cultural and art backgrounds of both China and the US, many have made personal contributions to people-to-people exchanges, and they echoed the Ambassador’s words.
The event comes after a high-profile state visit by Chinese President Xi Jinping to the United States, where Xi extended an invitation for 100,000 young Americans to visit China over the next five years for study and exchanges.
