Kim Seol-ah’s practice summons memories of her vanished hometown erased by the construction of a vast chemical complex through encounters with minute, often unseen beings such as insects, ashes, and microorganisms. Moving between cities, the artist turns her gaze toward fragile existences that drift from place to place, their bodies shed from what was once their own. Her work becomes a testimony to an era’s unspoken instability, evoking the memory of those who, having lost their ground, return in transformed bodies to inhabit the world anew.
