Part of China's first 'air-rail' hub, Shanghai East Railway Station, expected operational in 2027

Shanghai's newest mega transport hub is taking shape, with over 70% of the main station structure now complete.

Located about 5 km from Pudong International Airport's Terminal 1, the station will bring together national rail, regional and urban rail services — plus airline check-in — under one roof, with a layout of 15 platforms and 30 tracks.

It's China's first high-speed rail station to feature an integrated "air-rail" hub, and is expected to open in July 2027.

Its vast double-curved steel roof is now largely in place, and interior construction is underway.
