외신이 극찬한 한국 대중교통
Hello and welcome.
You're watching Press Perspective for this Friday OCTOBER 30th here in Seoul.
I'm Min Sun-hee.
Seoul's public transport is winning global praise for its speed and efficiency but what does it reveal about the Korean society and who might still be getting left behind?
For more I have independent journalist Kelly Kasulis Cho.
Kelly it's good to have you here.
I also have writer Colin Marshall with us.
Colin welcome back.
1) Kelly, after British magazine Time Out ranked Seoul fifth among the world’s best cities for public transport, CNN also named Seoul’s subway one of the world’s best metro systems.
What aspects of Korea’s public transport do foreign media find most impressive?
2) Colin, what public transport service in Korea have you personally found the most convenient?
3) Kelly, you recently traveled to Europe.
How does Korea’s public transport compare to that of its European counterparts?
4) Colin, do you think Korea’s public transport system reflects aspects of Korean culture and values?
For example, priority seats for pregnant women or etiquette like wearing your backpack in front.
5) Kelly, Korea’s public transport is often praised for being fast and efficient.
Do you think the efficient transport system also shapes the way Koreans live?
6) Colin, on a fun note.
Do you think the people you see every day on buses and subways reveal something about the Korean society?
I mean, what aspects of Korean people have stood out to you the most?
7) Kelly, beyond buses and the subway, some taxis have been accused of reckless driving or overcharging, and Seoul is planning tougher measures to crack down on them.
What do you make of this?
8) Colin, despite the strengths of Korea's public transport system, getting around can still be difficult for wheelchair users and older people.
Do you think public transport in Korea is equally convenient for everyone?
How does it compare with other countries?
All right.
That brings us to the end of this week's editions of Press Perspective.
Thank you for watching.
Have a great weekend.
