Why should you never put your hands near a running car engine?! 🛑🔧
Modern car engines utilize a massive rubber serpentine belt that connects the spinning crankshaft to all the vital accessories. This belt moves at thousands of revolutions per minute under extreme tension.
If a mechanic tries to adjust a part or trace a leak while the engine is running, they are putting themselves in extreme danger. If a loose sleeve or a slipping finger gets caught between the belt and a metal pulley, the engine's massive torque will instantly pull it in, resulting in catastrophic injury or shattered tools. Always turn the engine off!
