When Arnold Didn’t Want To Say “I’ll Be Back”

Arnold Schwarzenegger shared the hilarious story behind the iconic line "I'll be back" from James Cameron's 1984 sci-fi classic The Terminator. While filming, the Austrian action legend struggled with pronouncing "I'll" due to his native German accent and felt the contraction sounded strange. Believing that an unstoppable killer cyborg should speak in a more rigid, robotic manner, Arnold argued that saying "I will be back" sounded much more machine-like. However, director James Cameron had zero patience for script notes and instantly shut him down, asking Arnold if he was the writer before telling him not to tell him how to write. Seeing Arnold Schwarzenegger get shut down by James Cameron over the most iconic line in cinema history is pure gold. #arnoldschwarzenegger #theterminator #terminator #jamescameron #illbeback #behindthescenes #funny #viral #funnymoments #shorts #comedy #interview #latenight #celebritystories
