What defines a true leader? Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam answered this question with one of the greatest leadership lessons from his life at ISRO. 🇮🇳

In August 1979, India's first experimental SLV-3 launch failed, and the satellite fell into the Bay of Bengal. Although Dr. Kalam was the Mission Director, ISRO Chairman Professor Satish Dhawan took responsibility for the failure, publicly standing behind his scientists and promising that they would succeed.

A year later, when SLV-3 successfully placed the Rohini satellite into orbit in July 1980, Professor Dhawan asked Dr. Kalam to lead the press conference and receive the credit.

As Dr. Kalam beautifully explained: A great leader absorbs the blame for failure and gives the credit for success to the team.
