Want to spend a night in the city that never sleeps? ๐
Here's my after-work plan. Save it for your next trip ๐
๐ Stop 1 | Gwanghwamun Chaekmadang (๊ดํ๋ฌธ ์ฑ ๋ง๋น)
Reading is the new cool in Korea, and Koreans call it ํ ์คํธํ.
You don't even need a library. It's right by the station!
Part of the Seoul Outdoor Library (์์ธ์ผ์ธ๋์๊ด), run by the city of Seoul.
Free books, free seats, right in the middle of the city.
There are three spots:
ยท ๊ดํ๋ฌธ ์ฑ ๋ง๋น at Gwanghwamun Square
ยท ์ฑ ์ฝ๋ ์์ธ๊ด์ฅ at Seoul Plaza
ยท ์ฑ ์ฝ๋ ๋ง์๋๊ฐ along Cheonggyecheon Stream
Open FriโSun from spring to fall, with night hours until 10PM.
โจ Stop 2 | Gwanghwamun Square (๊ดํ๋ฌธ๊ด์ฅ)
Live music, flea markets, fountains.
Seoul doesn't sleep after sunset.
While you're here, don't miss:
ยท The statues of King Sejong and Admiral Yi Sun-sin
ยท Sejong Story & Admiral Yi Sun-sin Story, a free underground exhibition behind King Sejong's statue (closed Mondays)
ยท Garden of Time (์๊ฐ์ ์ ์), a real Joseon-era site excavated right under the square
๐ฎ Stop 3 | Unhyeongung (์ดํ๊ถ)
Just a 20-minute walk through the hanok alleys, and you're in the Joseon Dynasty.
This was the home of Heungseon Daewongun, where King Gojong was born and lived before he became king.
Right now it's running a night program, ์ผ๋ฐค์ ์ค์์์ค (Night Oasis):
ยท Until Nov 29, 6โ9PM
ยท Meet Joseon-era night patrol guards (์๋ผ๊ตฐ), see media art, and enjoy a storytelling music show (7โ8PM)
ยท Stargazing and a tea experience need a reservation on Naver
๐ Stop 4 | Hanok pizza + ๐๏ธ Olive Young
The alleys around here are full of great places to eat.
I went to FLOP for pizza and beer in a hanok ๐บ
Then Olive Young for some shopping, even busier at night!

๋ฐค๋ง์ค = a light night stroll just to enjoy the vibe
๊ณ ์ฆ๋ํ๋ค = quiet and peaceful, with an old-time charm
