Polite defiance against boring daily life, a web cartoonist, Kimong 지루한 일상을 향한 예의 바른 항명, 웹툰 작가 키몽

From an architect to a web cartoonist. In fact, KIMONG was a student who studied architecture. But he wanted to communicate with many people by his talent, he decided to draw webtoon in earnest as an undergraduate student.

In 2013, KIMONG updated his first work called ‘Straw’ on the art platform called ‘INDIKET’ since then more people have followed his work so he has continued his illustration and webtoon work. He was involved in GIFTY group exhibitions with his Illustrations. He had his solo exhibition ‘Picked it up on the street’ in 2015.

He continued posting his work ‘Word play’ on Kimong page on social networking sites and the webtoon became very popular among people and He became known to people with the webtoon. Now He is publishing ‘Thinking Net ’on Naver Best Challenge. He is also involved in as a contents creator at MCM Deserted Island.

꿈 많던 건축학도 키몽이 웹툰을 그리기 시작한 이유는 크고 거대한 목표나 꿈을 이루기 위해서가 아니었다. 여느 20대 청년처럼, 즐기면서 즐겁게 할 수 있는 일을 찾기 위해 고민했고 정해진 순서대로 건축사무소에 취직해서 사회생활을 하고 있는 본인의 모습을 상상해보기도 했다.

하지만 키몽은 조금 다르게 생각했다. 본인이 가장 잘 할 수 있는 그림을 통해 보다 많은 사람들에게 즐겁고 유쾌하지만 과하지 않은 이야기를 전달하고 싶다는 생각을 한 것이다. 그렇게 키몽은 2013년 웹툰 플랫폼 ‘인디켓’에서 지푸라기 소년으로 데뷔해 조금씩 독자들과의 소통을 이어나가기 시작했다.

그렇게 키몽은 웹툰 작가이자 일러스트레이터로 다수의 단체전 참여하고 개인전을 개최하며 자신의 이야기를 그려가며 성장해왔다. 그리고 2016년, 본인이 운영하는 SNS 페이지 ‘키몽’에 꾸준히 업데이트 해온 웹툰 ‘언어유희’로 보다 오롯이 자신만의 이야기를 그려가고 있다. 컬쳐엠매거진이 보다 많은 공감을 통해 즐거운 일상을 꿈꾸는 웹툰 작가 키몽을 만났다.
